Usually, I can look at a scene and decide immediately what lens to use. So let’s just say I’ve been slacking a bit on my photography and like any muscle it gets a bit atrophied after no use. I started out thinking this was a telephoto shot with my 100-400mm. I knew I would not be able to get closer as there was a barbed fence, and my past luck with them hasn’t been exemplary. So, as I told myself to just bring my entire bag out of the car with me, I just took the camera and lens. I climbed up the embankment, set up, and shit. I left the tripod up, climbed back down the embankment, almost got mowed over by some farmer as I crossed the street, and then proceeded to put my 35-70mm lens on my camera. I crossed the street, climbed the embankment, and attached my camera to my tripod. As I heard my camera click into my tripod a deer proceeded to gently walk out of the fog and right into my shot. Making one of my tree portraits much more interesting. Funny how shit works sometimes?
