Hawaii in Black and White ed. 1

No these aren’t Christmas trees. They are Cook Pine trees and are considered a symbol of Kauai and are often used to represent the island in artwork and photographs. The Cook Pine tree is also important culturally, as it is associated with the god Lono and was once used as a sign of royalty. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but they are very graphic, and usually planted in a straight line kinda like cypress trees in Tuscany. In fact, this is what I really love about this picture. It is not your typical technicolor sunset from Hawaii. I think Hawaii can be represented in black and white just as well if not better than color. Stay tuned and we will see…
