Winter Grove

The snow report said only 18 inches over the next couple of days. That turned into 56 inches in 48 hours and resulted in us being snowed into our cabin. Cabin fever struck and I set out to Paige Meadows on my cross country skis in a full white out. I had been there a 100 times before and always found it very difficult to translate the beauty and peacefulness of the place to film. It draws large crowds in the fall to see the Aspen grove turn gold, and I thought a pic of this grove with fresh snow in the winter might do it justice. It took me 2 hours to break trail to a place that is at most a 30min hike. The wind from the blizzard had stripped the Aspens of the delicate snow, but I happened to catch a glimpse of the sugar pine grove behind me that was leeward of the storm, and thus beautifully preserved in the photo before you.
