I have driven past this picture hundreds of times now. Every time I look over and tell myself wow, that would be a great pic in the right weather. Then I swerve away from a mailbox, just miss clipping the inevitable bike rider, and right myself back on the road. I continue on my day not giving it another moments thought. Then the fog rolls in on a Friday night. No work in the morning and Heather agrees to walk my boy. Off I go early, the fog still so thick I feel like I can stir the air with a spoon. I roll up, slowly this time, and find a pull out to park. I walk my tripod back up the road plant it and take the pic I’ve been envisioning for a while now. I haul ass back down to my car listening for the hum of another car coming in the fog. I open my car door and zoom! A bike rider fly’s past me within inches. I initiate a foul response but then remember that this is the guy I’ve probably almost clipped with my car about a hundred other times dreaming about a hundred other pictures I would like to take one day.
