JOHN A. SIKITA

artist photographer philanthropist

If you every get the chance, drop everything and go to Tuscany.   Its not a town in Italy, it’s a region.  Its large and most tourist go to Sienna or Florence which are wonderful places but really not Tuscany.  To feel Tuscany you should probably start in Pienza, then drive out of town and get lost on the dusty back roads while taking in some of the most wonderful scenery Italy has to offer.   I took this shot on my way to shoot a dusty little town called Lucignano D’Asso.   It’s really just a storage shed filled with old farm equipment, but the yellow patina and the tiny wood door give it more character than most.  I added a soft focus to the image because it makes it feel more like a painting than a photograph, which is what most of Tuscany is like.
