Most never make it past the valley in Yosemite. While impressive, the Yosemite back country is just as awe inspiring. The only way to make it to this little backcountry mountain lake is to hike about 30 miles into Yosemite. In August of 2011 a couple of my friends and I decided to make a last minute trip to Yosemite. The Sierra Nevada had a pretty good winter over 2010/2011 and the snow was still melting in the high country producing high flows in all the rivers, lakes, and falls. We decided to camp at this lake because the scenery was stunning. As we pitched tents, some clouds moved in over the lake and the wind died down to complete calm producing the image before you. I really did nothing but set up my tripod frame it up and click the shutter...Yosemite did the rest.
