JOHN A. SIKITA

artist photographer philanthropist

By far the most interesting city I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit Jerusalem makes you feel history instead of judging it.  Once in the old medina you are transported to a time long ago walking down narrow streets with peddlers constantly trying to sell you their wares, and then you look up and find out you are standing where Veronica wiped Jesus’s face on the Via Dolorosa.  The Wester Wail or “Wailing Wall” is the seminal place to visit within Jerusalem.   Whatever your religious beliefs, it is a place of profound feeling.   When I entered it I was moved to see followers deep in prayer, and meditation.  Then I happened upon a row of children each with their hand on the wall being lead in prayer by a Hasidic Jew….all except one who at the time looked as though he was reading a very important text, from a very important being.
