Can You Take a Picture for Me?

Sometimes, the best inspiration is the question I get all the time. No, it isn’t, “Can you photograph our wedding for us?” That would be the worst question I get. The most popular question is, “Can you take a picture for me with these colors?” And I must say that although I loath getting it, or any other request for that matter, it usually works out. This picture started with, “John, I am decorating with these colors. Please take a picture for me with these colors.” At the time, I was thinking, “…where in the hell am I going to find those colors in nature?” Flash forward 2 months and I find myself at dawn in Kauai on a beach with my camera. And right there in front of me, is the request. Sometimes it takes a change of focus to realize potential. I was sitting there waiting for the sky to light on fire with brilliant reds, yellows, and magentas. Instead, the clouds socked in, and I got pinks, greys, and blues all in a hue of pastel. Quite frankly if not for the request, I doubt I would’ve taken a picture. So, in the future I think I will encourage requests. But don’t get too anxious, I probably wont even go to your wedding let alone photograph the debacle.
