Pale Horse

Point Reyes is synonymous with cows and cheese. So, it was to my surprise that I ran into this picture early one morning. I was certainly on the lookout for cows, first thinking to return to my rock tree and find fog and cows, but I couldn’t pass up this white horse. As I take more and more black and white photos, it is interesting to see how one starts to see in black and white. I knew fog always looks nice in black and white, but a white horse would really pop off the print. Unfortunately, this horse couldn't care less how she looked in black and white and decided to show me her derriere as if to say, “Kiss my ass tourist.” No amount of clicking my tongue or sweet talking would change her mind either. So, I decided to pack up my crap and signal defeat when the farmer’s dog decided to bark and she momentarily looked up to see if it was serious. I had my camera in my hand and quickly clipped off some frames while she struck this pose. She took one more look directly at me as if to say, “Lucky shot asshole.” and then moved on behind a tree where she finished her breakfast graze in peace.
