I looked out over Martis Lake early one morning, and to my surprise there was a gigantic white bird tooling around enjoying himself in the fog. It looked like a Pelican, but Pelicans to my knowledge range on the coasts not inland mountain lakes. Well, consider my knowledge incomplete because a Pelican it is. An American White Pelican to be exact, and they travel to Tahoe to mate every spring. The fog was coming off the lake as the sun rose and gave a magical starburst trail to my new friend. I converted it to black and white to emphasize the graphic nature of the image. I enjoy when I can make modern art out of what mother nature shows me on any given day.
